- Cold Cranking Viscosity: Maximum 7,000 mPa·s (centipoise) at -25°C. This ensures the starter motor can turn the engine over during a cold freeze.
- Cold Pumping Viscosity: Maximum 60,000 mPa·s at -30°C with no yield stress. This guarantees the oil pump can successfully pull the oil from the pan and circulate it.
2. High-Temperature Operational Limits (The "40" Rating)
- Kinematic Viscosity at 100°C: Minimum 12.5 mm²/s (cSt) and maximum less than 16.3 mm²/s. This is measured at normal engine operating temperature to ensure proper fluid thickness.
